We now have the Evanston IL Real Estate report for March of 2017. The report at the end of this blog goes into depth. You will find this very useful but today the topic of discussion is a one month period that ended March 17 of 2017 and we are going to compare that to the same time frame exactly one year ago.
Evanston IL has become very popular in the last decade and the people interested in moving to town has changed. We are still seeing many people wanting to move to town to take advantage to the great schools and easy access to areas South via the Metra and EL trains but now many younger people want to call Evanston home too.
A decade ago most young people wanted to live in the areas of Chicago like Lincoln Park, Buck Town and Lake View (also called “Wrigleyville”). This has all changed. With the expansion of Northwestern University and the addition of high-rises in the downtown area has caused the need for many new businesses.
People love having all that Evanston offers within walking distance. I remember 10 or 15 years ago being able to name all the popular restaurants on one hand. Now it seems like every week I hear about a new and wonderful eatery that opens in town and people want to experience these great dining options.
Everything in the downtown area is within walking distance
There is access to a state of the art movie house in the Century Theatres located right in downtown at 1715 Maple. I think there are 12 screens and they have all the choices you want. This is an unusual place because they have great choices of food besides candy and popcorn and a fully stocked bar so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a mixed drink with your flick.
That was unheard of a few years ago. The shops in Evanston are fun to browse and unique. I love the store called Ten Thousand Villages which is on 719 Main street. I must quote so you can get the picture. It is one of our favorite shops in town.
“You’ll discover jewelry, accessories and home accents handcrafted by fairly paid artisans in developing countries around the world. Today, Ten Thousand Villages supports more than 20,000 craftspeople in over 30 developing countries with fair, sustainable incomes that allow them to plan for the future and build better lives for their families.”
